Rushmap shows how New York is moving right now: every subway train, bus, commuter train, ferry, plane and Citi Bike station on one map, and a replay of the last 24 hours and of past days.

Rushmap is an independent project by Michele Berardi. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the MTA, NJ Transit, PATH, NYC Ferry, Citi Bike, Lyft or any other transit agency or company.

Privacy

No account, no ads. This site has no sign-up and shows no advertising.
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which parts of Rushmap are used (pages, Live / Replay / Stats, clicks on the App Store and Google Play buttons), by country, device and browser. It sets cookies (_ga) only if you accept them in the banner. If you decline, Google Analytics stores nothing on your device and receives only anonymous signals without identifiers. Google Analytics does not record IP addresses; advertising features and data sharing for ads are turned off. Google acts as our processor: see Google's privacy policy and how Google uses data from sites. You can change your choice at any time: Cookie settings.
No location. The site never asks for your location.
Local storage. Your browser remembers your cookie choice, and the Stats page keeps a copy of the MTA's public statistics for 12 hours to load faster. Neither contains personal data; you can clear them with your browser's site data.
Network requests. To show the map, your browser downloads public transit data from the Rushmap server, the MTA's official statistics from data.ny.gov, map tiles from OpenFreeMap and the map and chart libraries from unpkg. Like any web request, these servers receive your IP address and browser type. The Rushmap server keeps standard technical logs for security and reliability only, and does not use them to identify you.
Links. The App Store, Google Play, Instagram and email links take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.
Children. The site is suitable for all ages and is not directed at children; we don't knowingly collect data about them.

The Rushmap name and logo, this website, its design, source code, icons, map styling, vehicle animations, statistics and the recorded archive of past days are the property of Michele Berardi and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

You may view and use this site for your own personal, non-commercial use. Without prior written permission you may not:

copy, reproduce, modify, translate, republish or redistribute the site or any part of its code, design or content;
access, scrape, mirror or reuse the Rushmap server, its data feeds or its recorded archive, by automated means or otherwise;
embed or frame the site in another website or app, or present it as your own;
reverse-engineer the site or use it to build a competing product or service;
use the Rushmap name or logo.

No warranty. Positions can be delayed, estimated or missing: subway feeds have no GPS, so train positions are estimated between stations. The site is provided “as is”, for information only; do not rely on it for safety-critical decisions. Check official sources before you travel.

Data sources

Live and recorded data come from public open data, used under each provider's terms: MTA (Bus Time, GTFS-Realtime and static GTFS for the subway, Metro-North and LIRR), NJ Transit, PATH (Port Authority of NY & NJ), NYC Ferry, Citi Bike (GBFS), AIS ship positions, ADS-B aircraft data from adsb.lol (ODbL), the MTA's official statistics on data.ny.gov (ridership, performance, delays, bus speeds) and air quality from Open-Meteo (Copernicus CAMS). These organizations own their data and do not endorse Rushmap.
